Enjoy a fishing adventure in our flat bottom bass-style boat from 6:00AM to 11:00AM.
This adventure is focused on teaching the basics about fishing to anyone.
Fishing San Diego Bay for Spotted Bay Bass, Yellowfin Croaker, the elusive Pacific Bonefish and many other species.
When fishing San Diego Bay, I like to fish in the more remote areas, south of the Coronado Bridge.
Captain Bob’s specialty is fly fishing and light tackle fishing San Diego Bay for Spotted Bay Bass, Yellowfin Croaker, the elusive Pacific Bonefish and many other species. We can also venture to the inshore kelp beds depending on weather and water conditions. He also specializes in teaching boys and girls how to enjoy San Diego Bay, its fishing fun and help them create a wonderful fishing report to share with their friends.
Since purchasing En La Mosca in 2007 Captain Bob have logged over 600 days on the San Diego Bay waters. In that time, he has guided more than 100 guests from all over the world. Every trip has been fun and we have made great friendships along the way. Everyone has had a great fishing report to share.
En La Mosca Adventures will provide all of the necessary rods and reels, flies, lures and other necessary items or you can bring your own on our trip. Water and soft drinks will also be provided along with some basic snacks. We will practice CPR, Catch, Photograph and Release, with all species, especially Pacific Bonefish.
Captain Bob would love to take you on a great fishing trip, teach you about San Diego Bay, CA and learn from you as well. Email him at email@example.com for additional information and scheduling.
Thank you for visiting En La Mosca Adventures!!
Faced with a possible client skunk midway into the charter using his total understanding of bottom structure, tidal surge and current action in the Back Bay, Captain Bob my expert guide, went into action. He relocated the boat over an old open water ship anchorage. Both the first and second cast produced the areas signature fish the scrappy Spotted Bay Bass. Another move produced three chunky Spotties and my first of the season Bonefish which Captain Bob skillfully netted just as the fish spit my fly. This beautiful fish was released without ever being touched by human hands. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Captain Bob and En La Mosca Adventures for a job well done. From the late Mark Beckerson: One of the great people lost!
July 31, 2011: Just spent another day on the bay with Bob Day (Captain Bob Day, that is) with my ten year old daughter and she killed it out there. Again, Captain Bob put us on fish quickly and my daughter had the best day of fishing, ever. She caught fish left and right, with hook up after hook up, after hook up! Bob also gave her a quick lesson on fly fishing and she caught her first fly rod fish today. If you want to just go fishing, don’t hire Bob. NOW if you want to go CATCHING, better book him sooner rather than later. Good times, awesome knowledge of San Diego Bay and he is GREAT with kids. Thanks Captain and tight lines!
I spent two days on the bay with Captain Bob Day and had a blast; July 2nd, with my brother and July 3rd with my daughter. Both days were AWESOME, but the day fishing with my thirteen year old daughter was EPIC! She caught the most fish on that day, than any other day of her young life. What we liked the most was CATCHING FISH. Not going here or there, Captain Bob put us on fish QUICKLY. Although, my daughter and I were fishing plastics, Captain Bob was fishing the fly and catching fish, that way, too. Fun to watch. If you want to CATCH fish and NOT just go fishing, call the Captain and make sure to book your next trip with him! Thanks Bob, I will see you again on July 31 with my ten year old daughter. Tight lines.
My sons, Alex (6yrs) and Edwin (8 yrs), had the time of their lives fishing with you on your boat, En La Mosca, last Thursday 8/11/2011. You have a great disposition as a guide with adults and a wonderful sense of humor and patience with children — even working with Alex on his bait casting! The boys have many great memories, pics, and videos of their 2 dozen catches of corvina and spotted bay bass in San Diego Bay.
“My trip with you the next day in the kelp beds was truly awe-inspiring and unique — nowhere else in the world have I ever fly fished among such amazing natural and man-made sights…sea lions, seals, porpoises, brown pelicans, our heroes the U.S. navy SEALS, navy warships, and navy nuclear submarines! I will be back in San Diego in the near future for business (and vacation) and will be sure to set aside a day for mako shark fishing on the fly — I can’t wait! Take care and see you soon again on the En La Mosca in the future!”
My Father-in-law and I met Captain Bob at the Chula Vista boat ramp just before sunrise. It only took a few minutes to launch the boat and get underway. As we moved out of the marina, the winds were calm and the sun began to rise over the mountains to the east. What a beautiful morning to be out on the bay fishing. It didn’t take long to get to one of Captain Bob’s favorite spots. He gave us the option of using a fly rod or spinning reel and we both chose to use spinning reels as we were use to using this type of equipment back in NY. On my first cast out, I latched into a 14 inch spotted bay bass and boy did he put up a good fight on the light tackle. It reminded me of the smallmouth bass we use to catch back in NY. Before long we were both reeling them in one after another. As the fishing slowed down in one spot, Captain Bob would move us to another one of his favorites he has found over the years, offering refreshments and snacks while we were underway. By late morning we returned to the dock tired, but happy about all the fish we had caught. Koodoos to Captain Bob for a great fishing trip.
We had a wonderful time yesterday fishing with Captain Bob Day. It was incredibly fun and relaxing for both of us. Can’t wait to share with our fishing friends. And we’ll be booking again with him. It changed our entire vacation to just spend the morning with him out there. Like a magical transformation. Cannot thank you enough!
I have fished with Bob twice this year. Both times were phenomenal. Denise caught her long sought after bone fish, actually two and I caught a personal best 3-3/4 pound sand bass in San Diego Bay. The service was outstanding and I look forward to fishing with him in 2013. I do volunteer work with inner city kids with such organizations as Dan Hernandez Youth Fishing, Friends of Rollo, 976 Tuna and Phil Friedman. This year Bob donated trips to help raise money as well as fishing equipment for the kids. I plan to give a Christmas gift of a Bob Day guided trip to one of our kids. It will be an awesome experience to be on the water and fish with such a professional. I also plan to fish with him next year to get my pacific bone fish. He is a great guide and I recommend him to anyone who demands a professional who knows his business. Many thanks for all he has done to promote fishing in Southern California.
My 7 year old son and I joined Captain Bob today for a beautiful day of fishing on SD Bay. Bob was courteous, punctual and very informative. He had many good stories and led us to 20 spotted bay bass (not counting the 10+/- that he pulled in himself). I won’t go into details, but let’s just say that my son out fished me by a lot. Bob provided muffins and soda for us and we fished for about 4.5 of the 5 hours that we were on the water. This ain’t like any party boats where you travel for an hour before you get to start fishing. From the Chula Vista marina, we were fishing in 10 minutes of leaving the dock. Bob had plenty of tackle for us to use and was there to provide instruction whenever it was needed. Most of the fish were in the 11-12 inch range and provided a good fight on the light gear that we used. Bob even taught my son how to fly fish! It was a truly memorable day and I would highly recommend En La Mosca Adventures to anyone who lives in San Diego or who is visiting San Diego.
Bob Day was informative, educational, punctual, patient, and a joy to be with. My 10 year old granddaughter (spinning gear) learned a lot about San Diego Bay fishing; as did I — about using a shooting head fly line more efficiently (and I am a pretty decent fly fisherman). Bob is a real gentleman and a fine guide, who provided an enjoyable morning on the water — We’ll be back!
I had a little fly fishing experience before this trip in rivers in the Northwest, but Bob got me going easily with his professional instruction and his ability to read the tides and topography. We got plenty of catching action on his super Orvis equipment. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
